About Us

The Awarua Catchment Group is in the early stages of forming and welcomes anyone interested in being part of a community-led initiative focused on environmental stewardship. The idea for the group emerged from local conversations about the unique challenges and opportunities in the Awarua area, and the desire to work together to protect and enhance its waterways, wetlands, and landscapes. The catchment includes Bluff, Greenhills, Omaui, Woodend, Tisbury Waimatua, Tiwai and the areas south of Kennington and Rimu. This encompasses a mix of coastal, urban, and rural environments. Whether you're a farmer, landowner, resident, or simply passionate about the environment, we’d love to hear from you. This is a chance to help shape the group from the ground up, bringing local knowledge, energy, and ideas to the table.
