About Us

The Knapdale Catchment Group started in July 2022 with a core group of interested farmers. The formed out of an interest of getting the community together, exploring environmental DNA (eDNA), understanding the health of the local streams, as well as increasing knowledge around erosion control structures, and nitrogen use efficiency.

Catchment Area

The Knapdale catchment covers nearly 6000 hectares, and has beautiful lands, suited for a mix of arable, sheep, beef and dairy farming.  The catchment takes in Gold Creek, and a range of tributaries feeding into the Mataura River.
