Engagement, Operational & Wellness Grants

Thriving Southland

Catchment Group:

Thriving Southland

Project:

Engagement, Operational & Wellness Grants

Funding:

$500 per Catchment

Period:

Jul 21 - Dec 21

Project Description

Thriving Southland provided grants of up to $500 with the purpose that Catchment Groups would use the funding to connect socially with their communities, increase engagement and reach different audiences, boost morale and improve well-being and assist with basic operational costs to support groups in gaining momentum. These grants have allowed Catchment Groups to host social get-togethers to bring people together off farm, engage specialist speakers, run workshops on topics of interest and assist with meeting costs to name just a few.

Objectives

  • Provide a social outlet for Catchment Groups to boost morale and improve wellbeing.

  • To help Catchment groups with operational costs in their first year.

Outcomes

  • 24 Catchment Groups really made the most of this opportunity by organising get-togethers and social events. One group came up with the idea of putting their $500 towards the prize pool for an on-farm Christmas decoration competition, which proved to be extremely popular across Southland. The Christmas competition also featured in a story on TV show Seven Sharp.
