About Us

The South Coast Catchment Group came together in 2021 after a few local farmers decided to take action in their own patch. Many had been part of Waikawa events and wanted to build on that momentum. The group now has around 40 members with a mix of drystock and dairy farmers and all keen on practical ways to improve water quality, soil health, and biodiversity while keeping farming productive. It’s a friendly, proactive group that just gets stuck in and makes things happen.

Catchment Area

The catchment stretches from Tokanui in the north down the coast to Waipapa Point, Otara, Haldane, and Slope Point, often collaborating with the Waikawa Catchment Group on events.
