About Us

The Wendon Catchment Group got underway in July 2022, with 16 locals from across arable, forestry, sheep, beef and dairy farming keen to work together. Since then the group has been building momentum, looking into water quality, erosion, biodiversity and pest issues, and always welcoming more people to get involved.

Catchment Area

The Wendon catchment runs from the headwaters down through mid-slopes to the lower flats, a mix of rolling hill country and lowland farms that drain a patchwork of arable, forestry, sheep, beef and dairy land into the local streams. The relationship between landscape and land use means the catchment faces issues like erosion, sediment and nutrient run-off, while also containing pockets of native bush, wetlands and important stream habitat.
