Project Description

An evening for farmers (and other interested community members), where they can learn about funding opportunities available to them to create on farm change for improved environmental and farm system outcomes. Speakers had 10 minute timeslots to talk about the funding they can offer, followed by supper and a chance to mingle, chat, find out more and fill in some forms. Funders had the opportunity to set up a table with info on their funding opportunities.

Objectives

Bring farmers and funders together for a social and informative evening where funders can share their funding opportunities, and farmers can share their ideas, ask questions, speak directly with funders, and take home the information they need to apply for funds to make on farm actions to benefit their farm systems and the environment
Create an event that inspires and supports action on the ground on farms and community projects, for environmental improvement
Host an event that will bring together and benefit farmers, Catchment Groups, community organisations and members of the Oreti community
Raise the profile of Catchment Groups and the great work they are doing
Enjoyable, social and informative evening

Outcomes

Farmers have a better understanding of funding opportunities available to them to create on farm change for improved environmental and farm system outcomes
Bring Farmers, Funders and the Oreti Catchment Groups together in a relaxed and informal space to talk and share their ideas.
Create and raise awareness of the Oreti Catchment Groups and what they can offer
Forge new links between the Oreti Catchment Groups and the community
Provide an opportunity for new ideas be created for the Oreti Catchment Groups and their members
